Literature Text

I heard you calling to me from the bottom of that hole. As I approached I realized how scared and unsure I was to dive in, for it was something that I have never done before. It was too dark to see what was waiting for me at the bottom. I only knew that you were there and I wanted to be there with you. Despite my worries I closed my eyes and dived in head first and fell to the bottom. When I opened them I looked around and realized that I was alone. Looking around, I glanced up to find you standing on the ledge from which I had jumped, next to another person. You called down to me and told me not to worry, that you would be back soon to save me and like a fool I waited. As the days went by I grew cold and hungry, for it was damp down there and no sun could reach the bottom. One evening I finally realized that if I wanted to get out of this hole, I was going to have to climb out of it myself. It took a long time and I fell back to the bottom again and again but I eventually pulled myself out of that dark and lonely place. As I got to my feet finally feeling the warmth of the sun covering my body, I once again heard you calling to me from the bottom of the hole. Only this time I knew what was awaiting me at the bottom, and I refuse to jump so blindly again.
This is a short story that I thought up the other day and decided to write. It is sort of a metaphor for my past relationships.
